Ruse paid tribute to the memorable 1975 year in its football history. On October 1, fifty years ago, at the City Stadium on the Danube, the players of Dunav Ruse achieved a 1–0 victory over AS Roma. That moment marked the first time football from Ruse qualified for the UEFA Cup (now the Europa League) and also the team’s first and only victory in European competitions to date.
The veterans of Dunav were honored with commemorative plaques and certificates presented by Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov, Mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov, Dimitar Dimitrov – “Kulemans,” Chairman of the Regional Football Council, and the management of Football Club Dunav.
