The taste of Ruse

The Garash Cake is an important and recognizable element of Ruse's cultural heritage. It was created in Ruse in the 19th century by the confectioner Kosta Garash, a tenant of the Islyah Hane hotel in the city, between 1885 and 1889.

Today, in honor of the iconic cake, the city is hosting a "Garash Cake Festival". On this day, every visitor can try the original recipe prepared by local master confectioners and enjoy a sweet day filled with smiles and fun.

The Garash Cake Festival for 2025 will be held on the 13th of September at Svoboda Square. Everyone who loves to eat something sweet is invited.
