Information about this emblem:
The Orient Express is a luxury train connecting Paris with Vienna and Istanbul since 1883. It is called the "train of kings" or "king of trains" because of its interior splendor and the many royals who have ridden on it.
For lovers of railway history, the Orient Express is a unique opportunity to see part of European cultural heritage firsthand. The original route of the train, created in 1883, passed through Giurgiu (Romania), where passengers crossed the Danube by ferry to Ruse, and from there continued by another train to Varna.
Many notable personalities of the 19th and 20th centuries traveled on the Orient Express, such as Honoré de Balzac, Charles de Gaulle, Gustave Flaubert, Ernest Hemingway, Coco Chanel, Jean Cocteau, Josephine Becker, Agatha Christie, Kemal Ataturk, Queen Elizabeth II, Mata Hari, Marlene Dietrich, Simone Signoret, Grace Kelly, Yves Montand and others. There is a legend on the train that the spy Mata Hari met her lover Viktor Maslov, and received valuable information from him about operations planned by Russian intelligence.
