Welcome to the Roman Market in Ruse!

In the period 9-11 May 2025, the XIII edition of the ancient festival "Roman Market of Sexaginta Prista" will be held. The event presents a traditional market day in Ancient Rome, with a variety of products, crafts, and many people. Everyday practices, exciting stories, funny stories, farm goods, and handmade products will tempt festival visitors.

On the territory of the Roman market, there are tents of local producers, craftsmen, and artisans. Fascinating stories, beautiful costumes, funny moments, duels, theater, games, and reenactments will captivate visitors. Artisans, producers of dairy and bee products, and drinks will be present. Festival guests will be able to acquire handmade jewelry, cards, magnets, and souvenirs made of natural materials. For the ladies, beautiful hairstyles from Roman times are planned, challenge lovers can join tournaments with ancient board games, and younger guests can have fun in thematic workshops. Attendees can transform into the images of Roman legionaries with adapted sets - mail, mail, helmets, and swords. The traditional tasting of fish soup will present practices related to food and nutrition.

On both festival days, guests will see Emperor Vespasian, his retinue, hear his speech, and take pictures with him.

Traditionally, the First Italian Legion will demonstrate the combat techniques with which Roman legionaries defend conquered territories, teach their youth military art, or capture slaves.

The Roman market will be held on the territory of the Roman fortress "Sexaginta Prista", the museum's Lapidarium, and Danube Square.

The beginning is on May 9 - antique workshops in the museum's courtyard.

The event continues on May 10 and 11 at the three indicated spaces.
