Ruse Summer Free Tour Turns 10: Free Walking Tours with Fresh Inspiration
Anniversary Season Kick-off – May 3, 2025
On May 3, 2025, the Ruse Summer Free Tour begins its 10th consecutive season — one of the most beloved tourist initiatives in the city of Ruse. For the tenth year in a row, locals and visitors alike will have the opportunity to join free guided walking tours showcasing the most iconic buildings and landmarks in the city center.
When and Where?
The tours take place every Saturday from May to September, starting at 6:00 PM, with the meeting point in front of the Statue of Liberty in Ruse.
A New Generation of Tour Guides
This year brings an exciting surprise: many of the tours will be led by two motivated high school students from local schools in Ruse. With the support and consent of their parents, these young enthusiasts will have the chance to:
- Share their love for their hometown,
- Tell inspiring stories about Ruse,
- Gain valuable experience in tourism and public speaking,
- Practice their excellent English skills.
Professional tour guides from the region will also continue to be part of the team, ensuring the quality and accuracy of the information shared.
Who’s Behind the Initiative?
Ruse Summer Free Tour is a volunteer project by the KulturTour Ruse Association — a group of friends and like-minded individuals united by their love for the city and desire to make a difference. “This is about creating something that goes beyond immediate profit. The idea is for Ruse to develop its tourism potential and, in turn, help boost the local economy,” says Desislava Mihaylova, one of the tour organizers.
Part of a Bigger Movement
The initiative was inspired by the successful free city tours in Sofia, Plovdiv, and Veliko Tarnovo, which attract thousands of visitors each year. In 2018, the Municipality of Ruse awarded Ruse Summer Free Tour the Most Original Tourism Event.
