On March 3, Ruse will become a symbol of patriotism and national pride.
For the first time in Bulgaria, students will carry a 900-meter tricolor flag, the longest in Bulgaria. This record-breaking flag will be among the main highlights of the holiday. The initiative is from the Secondary School "Vasil Levski" and is supported by the local administration.
Throughout the day, the city will be filled with patriotic events that will unite Ruse residents and guests in tribute to the Liberation of Bulgaria.
Solemn ceremony in front of the Freedom Monument
The official ceremony begins at 10:30 AM in front of the Freedom Monument, where a guard of honor will be erected. The ceremony will include the XIII Youth Guards Detachment of the Municipal Youth Center, the Municipal Brass Band, the choir of the Youth Academy "Zornitsa" led by Svetlana Nedkova-Petrova and the winner of this year's edition of the "For Bulgaria to Have It" competition, Daniel Hristov, a graduate of the National School of Arts "Prof. V. Stoyanov". Priests from the Ruse Metropolis will serve a prayer of thanks.
"Three Colors, One Flag - Yesterday, Today, Forever"
The culmination of the celebrations is at 12 PM on the Ruse pier, where students from the "Vasil Levski" Secondary School will lead a festive procession with a specially made national tricolor flag, which will be unfurled from the Vitia Bridge to the east along the riverside promenade. The flag's record length is 900 meters.
Folklore Dances for all
After the procession, in the area near Vitia Most, the Folklore Dance Club "Rodolyubets" organizes folklore choreography with costumes. All lovers of Bulgarian folk dances can join and make the holiday even more colorful and emotional.
Festive procession in the "Dolapite" district
At 2 PM, from the beginning of "Stremlenie" Street in the "Dolapite" district, a procession with a tricolor, 60 meters long, carried by the participants will begin. Its final point is the Monument to the Fallen in the Balkan War and the First World War, located in the courtyard of the "Archangel Michael" church. The organizers call on those present to wear Bulgarian folk costumes.
A gift for Ruse residents – theatrical production “Under the Yoke”
The festive program continues with two FREE performances of the play “Under the Yoke” by the Drama Theater “Stoyan Bachvarov”. They start at 3 PM and 7 PM in the Great Hall of the Theatre Building. The doors will open at 2:20 PM and 6:20 PM, respectively. The director of the performance based on Ivan Vazov’s novel is Bina Haralampieva. The roles are entrusted to a brilliant cast, and the production has exceptional success in the country.
Ruse becomes the center of football passion: National Cup “March 3”
For football fans, Ruse offers an attractive competition for winning the National Cup – “March 3”. On the artificial pitch of the Lokomotiv stadium, amateur football matches start at 9 AM.
Free visits to two museums
On March 3, 2025, entry to the Pantheon of the Bulgarian National Revivalists and the Baba Tonka House Museum will be ticket-free.
The following exhibitions will be open for visitation:

• Ecomuseum with an aquarium;
• Baba Tonka House Museum;
• Zahari Stoyanov House Museum;
• Pantheon of the Bulgarian National Revivalists;
• Ivanovo Rock Churches Archaeological Site;
• Sexaginta Prista Roman Fortress.
Free public transport
For the convenience of citizens, all public transport lines in Ruse will be free on March 3. They will operate according to a holiday schedule, which is published on the official website of the Ruse Municipality and the electronic information boards at the stops.
