Regional Library "Lyuben Karavelov"

The beginning of the library was laid in 1888, when patriotic cultural figures from the city, with the support of the City Municipality, took up and created the Ruse Library. These were the members of the educational society "Dunav", founded a year earlier (in September 1887) in the city of Ruse.

Building on this foundation, the Regional Library "Lyuben Karavelov" is now recognized as a cultural monument of local importance. It occupies the building constructed in 1911 for the first Chamber of Commerce and Industry in our country, designed by architect Nikola Lazarov.

Continuing its legacy, the Regional Library "Lyuben Karavelov" in Ruse is one of the oldest and earliest established spiritual centers in Bulgaria. The first legitimate librarian, appointed in 1891, was the music teacher Atanas Paunov. The library has a unique book collection and old editions from the country.

Today, the Regional Library "Lyuben Karavelov" - Ruse is the center of cultural life in the city. A large number of cultural events are held daily at the Library - concerts, exhibitions, readings, and many others.
