Lipnik Forest Park

The forest park is located near the village of Nikolovo, 10 km east of Ruse. It is located in a vast forest massif of linden trees with an area of about 20,000 acres, from which the name of the area comes. It is considered the largest forest park in Bulgaria.

The construction and shaping of the surrounding area as a park began around the 1950s, and the flow of people seeking peace here has not stopped. The forest park is a magnificent tourist destination, a place for recreation and entertainment for anyone who loves nature.

In ancient times, near the former Alian Teke, there was an old Bulgarian monastery - "St. Elijah". After its destruction, a healing spring (ayazmo) began to flow there. According to legend, it was destroyed, and the "Teke" was built on this site, which was demolished during the wars with Russia in the first decades of the 19th century. Subsequently, a sculpture depicting the Roman goddess of hunting ''Diana'', called by the locals "the white girl", was built next to the spring.

Every year on August 2 - Ilinden, a traditional festival is organized in the forest park.
